Overview
Maris Stella School, for a long time, had been taking advantage of opportunities provided by the Church, by the Ministry of Education, and through various other publicly available programs for in service or topical training. It had not had sufficient resources to develop its own training strategy as required by Palau's geographic isolation from institutions of higher learning.
In July 2022, Dr. Soalablai from the local McREL office conducted an introductory training on professional development for teachers. Shortly after, McREL offered an oppportunity for MSS to participate in a strategic, outcome oriented training to improve teacher effectiveness. Today (April 2024) MSS is in the 2nd of the 5 year partnership with McREL/REL Pacific.
